Fostering the right kind of culture
Many professional service firms that outperform their peers usually have an interesting interplay going on between: culture, profits and impact of their work. Based on the SCP model that is exactly what we want to align to encourage a healthy culture at your firm.
This module is about evaluating some of the core aspects of your firm’s current culture and advising on the steps you can take to improve. Here are some of the questions we discuss:
- What kind of people you hire?
- Who acts as a dead weight, what to do about it and when?
- Who gets promoted and why?
- How you handle salaries?
- What incentives and bonus plans you have in place?
- How you offset turnover costs?
- What actions are rewarded and what is penalized?
- What are the lines in the sand?
- How can we codify the rules of behavior?
- Who is held accountable for what?
This module is as much about identifying your current culture as designing the kind of culture that makes most sense for your positioning, the type of practice you run, clients you court and onboard, the staff you hire, develop and recruit.
The depth of the Culture module (and thus the price) is subject to your current state of affairs and strategic objectives. The more interviews we have to conduct, the more polls and questionnaires to work through, and the more specific the incentives and accountability measures to design, the more valuable the engagement.
We recommend running this module in cohort with the Core MVVP module. It also enhances the value you’d get from the Differentiation module because it taps into the "How we do things around here" question.
